Biography
Onder Bakircioglu joined the lecturing staff at Queen’s in September 2008. He obtained his LLB Degree from the University of Istanbul. He also holds an MA degree in “Human Rights and Democratization” from the University of Malta and an LLM degree in “International Human Rights Law” from the University of Essex. He is finalizing his PhD at the University College Cork. His thesis is entitled “The Historical Roots, Political Rationale and Objectives of the Right to Self-Defence in National and International Law: Should the Imminence Rule be Removed from the Traditional Contours of the Self-Defence Doctrine?” Onder’s research focuses upon the use of private and international self-defence, war and terror, just war doctrine and human rights.
